Do any of these feel familiar?

These are common and understandable responses. Having a loved one diagnosed with a mental health condition can shake the foundation of what you thought life would look like — for them and for you. But with the right support, you can learn how to navigate this new landscape with more clarity, compassion, and confidence.

Our Therapeutic Approach

We use an integrative, person-centered approach that honors your unique relationship with your loved one. Our work is grounded in psycho-education, communication strategies, collaborative problem-solving, and emotional support. We also draw from modalities such as ACT, CBT, and relational psychotherapy to support your growth and well-being.

Psycho-education

Psycho-education provides clear, supportive information about symptoms, treatment options, and what is most useful—or not—during difficult moments. It can help you understand what your loved one may be experiencing and learn tools for communication and setting boundaries.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT can support you in accepting what’s outside of your control while identifying and maintaining your values as a caregiver or family member. You’ll learn how to take meaningful steps in line with your values, even when things feel uncertain or painful.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT can help you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns—especially those tied to fear, guilt, or self-blame. You'll learn how to respond more effectively to your loved one’s needs while managing your own emotional reactions.

Relational Psychotherapy

When mental illness impacts a family, it can deeply affect relationships, roles, and identity. Relational therapy offers a space to explore these shifts, strengthen connection, and rediscover a sense of meaning in your relationship with your loved one and yourself.

How We Support You at Flourish Within Psychotherapy

We provide therapy for family members, partners, and caregivers of individuals living with serious mental illness. This work is not just about coping—it’s about learning how to connect, communicate, and support your loved one while staying grounded and resilient yourself.

Family support therapy can help you:

You’re doing the best you can; and you don’t have to do it alone

Supporting someone through mental illness is courageous and challenging. With the right guidance, you can be a source of strength and compassion while also caring for your own needs and well-being.
